Adding another user with Eudora

Often there is a need to add another User of Account to Eudora. This may be for the same person to use the services of another or additional ISP, or for a separate account for another person.

It is also possible to multiple copies of Eudora installed for separate users, however this duplication of the program files is wasteful of disk space. The following method is much more economical of space.

Step 1. Creating a Shortcut

Right-click on a clear area on the
desktop
, and in the contextural menu
that appears, select New, and then in
the next menu select Shortcut, and
then left-click.

Step 2. Shortcut to Eudora.

In the Command line box enter
(or browse) to the exiting executable
file of Eudora.exe.

Click on Next.

Step 3. New User Title

In the Select a name for the shortcut
enter a name for the additional account.

Click on Finish.

Step 4.

A new shortcut will appear on your desktop.

Step 5.

Left-click on the new shortcut icon
then right-click to make the contextural menu appear, select Properites
and then left-click.

Step 6. Create the new Properties.

In the Target box enter the location
of the existing copy of Eudora.exe
a space, and then the Folder name
in which all new data files, address
books, settings, etc. are to be stored.

In the Start in box enter the name of
the new Folder containing the data files.

Click on Apply and then OK.

Step 7.

Back on the desktop, click on the new icon that has been added.

Step 8.

At this stage it will be necessary to go through the Configuration setup as detailed separately.

A quicker alternative, and to
copy the same layout in the screen as before, is to copy the file Eudora.ini
from the original version into the new Folder containing the new data files.
