Telecommunication Circuits and Technology
For the bookshelf
Major Keary

Communications programming is one thing, understanding the engineering side is another. Telecommunication Circuits and Technology is primarily a text for students of electronic or telecommunications engineering and takes a "problem-solving approach to understanding the fundamentals of telecommunications".

The format of the book is built around example problems and their respective solutions with in-depth discussions of the issues involved. At the end of each chapter further problems are presented (but no answers at the back of the book). With each chapter there are vendor data sheets, and throughout the book there are many diagrams illustrating the text.

Chapters cover oscillators, modulation systems, filter applications, tuned amplifier applications, power amplifiers, phase-locked loops and synthesisers, and microwave devices and components.

This is not an introduction telecommunication circuits and technology; it is intended for readers who want to further their understanding of the fundamentals of telecommunications. Nevertheless, it should be a useful self-study resource for anyone with a reasonable grasp of the subject and who wants to develop his or her skills.
