FrontPage is a graphical Web page design application that has been integrated
into Microsoft's Office suite. That puts some users in a position that demands
they get up-to-speed quickly, either from scratch or refreshing a faint
acquaintance.
FrontPage 2002 Weekend Crash Course is designed for that kind of situation.
Fifteen hours of work and you're there-at least, that's the promise. Provided
you have the motive to learn FrontPage, and the self-discipline to stick to the
schedule, it is a realistic goal.
Of course, there is an assumption that you are not a computer novice, that you
are able to run Windows applications, and know your way around MS Office.
This is a tutorial that concentrates on how to do things rather than discussions
of theory or purely technical issues. The introductory lesson is about site
planning, goals, audience identification, and other basic stuff. From there on
the lessons are very practical and hands-on. Screen shots are used to illustrate
the text, and each lesson is followed by self-test questions.
Important topics are covered, such as the problem of coping with the problems
posed by different browsers and platforms; using cascading style sheets; using
colour on the web; graphics; fonts; multimedia; frames; forms; CGI scripts; and
interactivity. A companion CD contains trial/evaluation versions of Flash,
Photoshop, PaintShop Pro, and other software as well as a PDF version of the
book.
Concise, direct, and clearly written. If you want to learn FrontPage quickly,
this is the way to go.
