MYOB Software for Dummies, now in its fourth edition, is a guide to the various
versions of MYOB, what they do, and how to use them. The author, Veechi Curtis,
has been teaching -and writing about - MYOB for many years; in this title she
shows small business owners how to use the product to its full potential.
Different businesses have different accounting needs, which is why MYOB offers
several packages:
- Accounting v 14p;
- Accounting Plus v14;
- Premier 8;
- AccountEdge v4;
- BusinessBasics;
- FirstEdge; and
- M-Powered Services.
Each of those is described in the book.
The concise, plain-language style enables the reader to come to grips quickly
with any given problem or process. The focus is on practical solutions, and
practical advice contained in boxed notes that explain technical matters and
warn users of pitfalls. The how-to instructions are clear and in concise 'step
1, step 2, .' format with brief explanatory notes that help the user's
understanding of various processes. Also helpful is a chapter that describes
"Ten Perilous Pitfalls" that users need to keep in mind.
Australian tax requirements are, so to speak, built into MYOB and the book
contains useful information and tips about how to optimise those features for
individual circumstances.
An appendix sets out details of the MYOB 'family' for those who want to assess
which product is best for particular purposes.
A practical, comprehensive, and easy-to-follow text on MYOB. Good value.
