I trust that each of you looks forward every month to receiving your copy of the newsletter. We are all involved in a very exciting industry and have come together as a group to share our experiences and learn from each other.

July and August have seen a tremendous increase in the number of new members, the majority as a result of exposure of the Group from the PC-84 Show. What does this mean for the future? Our August meeting reflected this growing interest with an attendance of about 80 people. Of special note from that meeting, was the suggestion from the floor that Special Interest Groups should be set up for people with interests in particular fields. Meetings of these groups would facilitate detailed discussions on particular interest areas, in addition to the more general group meetings. TERRIFIC, I agree! Do you? Perhaps we all think that it's a great idea, but it will only happen if volunteers prepared to organise such SIG's come forward. There are no paid workers in this Group, we are all volunteers working in our spare time. So come on, contact anyone on the executive if you are prepared to organize.

At our July meeting we elected a new(?) committee. Thankfully those sterling bearers of responsibility from last year all accepted continuing in their important roles. I am certain that all members will join me in thanking the executive for their efforts last year to get the Group firmly established.

In this issue we must also welcome Felix Hofmann who will be producing "The PC Workbench" column. Do you know Felix? Try to get to meet him at the next meeting. He would appreciate hearing from you especially if you have something in the way of a useful tip or program, to include in the Newsletter.

Of course I am new to the team also. The past Editor and the Committee have set a very high standard for the newsletter. It is my intention to maintain and improve on that standard, with the hope that all members of the group will benefit. If each and everyone of us gives a little of their expertise the whole group will gain. Right now we need some additional help with the newsletter. We have a large volume of material being received from overseas which we can use in the Newsletter, but would like to add articles from local authors. If you can help in this way or are prepared to be a Sub-Editor for one of the columns, please contact me or any member of the committee. We also need help for straight typing work (from hard copy to disk files), and someone to take on the task of Advertising Coordinator.

One other point for this month. The newsletter relies on advertising dollars to meet some of its publication and distribution costs. With your help and your promotion, our advertising revenue can be increased. Let your suppliers know about our newsletter. Take a copy to the Store. It is our aim to reach all members eleven times a year. There isn't a better place to advertise.
