About This and Future Editions of PC Update

This issue of PC Update is not representative of either the past or the future. It has been put
together by a small group in order to provide some continuity between the old and the new.
Preparing each edition of PC Update takes a lot of time and effort. The previous editor, Rod Thompson
estimated that he spent approximately 60 hours per month working on the magazine and the quality of the
publication during his period as editor is a testimony to his efforts.
Since Rod's resignation, PC Update has been in the doldrums and efforts to produce editions in May and
June were frustrated by the absence of an editor. Not unexpectedly we could not find anyone prepared to take
on the role while it still had such a heavy workload.
In order to overcome this problem we have formed a Editorial Special Interest Group (ED SIG to spread the
workload involved in the production of PC Update . Many of the tasks formally handled by the editor
are now the responsibility of ED SIG members and the preparation of each future edition of PC Update
will be a joint effort.
If you are interested in the future of PC Update the best contribution you can make to its success is
to join the ED SIG. Even if you can't attend meetings of the ED SIG you can still play a vital part in
preparation of PC Update .
We need articles, reviews, cartoons etc . If we know what your interests are, we can provide you with
material for review from the public domain library, from the magazines produced by other user groups
overseas, or from material submitted to us by publishers or equipment suppliers.
PC Update will only continue to be published while there are sufficient people prepared to assist in its
production. If you are interested in contributing your talents what ever they may be to the future of PC
Update contact me.
The next meeting of the ED SIG will be held at my place - 776 Burwood Road, East Hawthorn on Wednesday 24th
July at 7.45 pm.
