This Issue
Advertising support for PC Update continues to grow, thanks to the sterling efforts of our Advertising manager, and new committee member, Laurence Blake. This issue is the largest on record (but wait for next
month!)
Contributions
These are also flourishing - if your article has not appeared in print, it is not because its no
good - for the last 3 months we have had a backlog, even with this giant issue there are still a large number of articles "in the wings". I am trying to publish them on a more-or-less first-in first-out basis, however at present I am deliberately holding some aside for the August issue.
Next Month
Melb PC will be at PC91. PC Update will huge - it will include a full Shareware/PD catalogue as part of a major membership drive starting at PC91. (Watch for this drive - you could really
benefit!) PC Update will also have its biggest print run ever - 6,500 copies, 2,000 to be given away/sold at PC91.
Put it on Paper or Disk
Messages sent by phone have a habit of going astray. This was demonstrated in last month's magazine when Avanti Technology rang a change of phone number through 20 minutes before the magazine went to the printer-yes you've guessed, one of us got it
wrong!
MS DOS 5.0
The product is released, Microsoft gave a brief demonstration to the last group monthly meeting and a much more detailed session two days later to those who paid $150. I attended both, have ordered my upgrade from MS and am waiting,
waiting!
Missing Magazines
When you read this, I expect to have completed the search, and be well on the way to having the back issues bound. Again thanks to all those who have provided assistance.
Swap Mart
Members are invited to participate in a swap mart. This event is being widely advertised on Radio, The Green Guide, The Trading Post, User Groups and schools.
Schools are included as research shows students and their parents are the main market place for used computers while industry usually insists on the latest and best.
The Hall will be open for traders to set up at 8am Sunday 7th July - stalls not occupied by 9.45am may be given to waiting traders.
SEC power is available, bring your own leads and surge suppressor if you need one and please don't bring any illegal software.
The Hall will be set up with chairs and rows of trestle tables, which are 2 foot wide and cost $2.00 per lineal foot. The smallest stand is 2 foot wide and 2 foot long - $4.00.
Red Faces Department
Read the Byte Box (letters to Editor) - even the most experienced people have the occasional momentary lapses, so be heartened - there is hope for us
all!
