Linux Installation Workshop

👤Run by Stewart Gruneklee

🟩The aim of the workshop is to assist members who wish to try out Linux Mint on their computers. There are three ways of doing this and you can choose which method suits you best at present:
1.    Run Linux 'live' on a USB stick without changing anything on the computer HDD/SSD.
2.    Install Linux in a 'dual boot' where you choose, each time the computer starts, to run Linux or Windows,
3.    Wipe the entire HDD/SSD and install Linux only on the computer.

🟨The Agenda:
Explanations and background,
Installing Linux
Familiarisation with the system

💻You will need to bring a laptop or desktop computer - any AMD or Intel processor up to 10 years old will generally be ok. 4GB or more RAM and at least 100GB Hard Disk Drive or Solid State Drive is ok. Ensure that you bring a power supply and if you do not have a recent backup image of your current data or an image of your HDD/SSD, bring a suitably large USB HDD/SSD. Also bring a USB thumb drive of 4GB or more capacity. We have spare monitors, mouses and keyboards if you bring a desktop box.
