Microcontrollers – the absolute basics

 Registration is closed for this event

Become confident with the basic equipment and tools used for our microcontroller project workshops.

This workshop is for those who have had zero previous engagement with microcontrollers like Arduino and ESP32. It is intended to ensure that when you attend a subsequent project workshop that you will be familiar and comfortable with the tools and components. If you have already used an Arduino or ESP32 along with a solderless breadboard and the Arduino Integrated Development Environment (IDE, programming tool) you won't need this one.

The session will be about 2-3 hours. At the end you will:-

  • Know what a microcontroller is, and the kinds of thing sit can be used for;
  • Understand input and outputs;
  • Know how a solderless breadboard works;
  • Know how to hook up a microcontroller module to your laptop for programming;
  • Have made your First Blinking LED. Link to my 2009 blog post
