About Us

The Northern Suburbs Linux SIG meets in the Community Meeting Room at the Watsonia Library. Meetings are usually held on the 3rd Monday of the month starting at approx 6.30 pm, but may occasionally be on a different day. Please see the Meeting Calendar web page for up to date details.

The SIG originally started in response to the interest expressed by local MelbPC members in the Ivanhoe/Watsonia area who wanted to become more proficient with Linux and the applications that come with it.

Our meetings now have a “Hands on Help” session starting around 6.30 pm, which allows members to obtain some one on one help with any Linux problems they are encountering. This is followed, at around 7.30 pm,  by one or more short presentations and/or discussions on  Linux News, Q & A, and Tips and Tricks.  Following a social break, we usually enjoy a talk of around 30 minutes duration exploring a Linux related topic in greater depth.
