Linux SIG Menu

The Linux SIG, formerly called the Northern Suburbs Linux SIG, currently meets online.  Meetings are usually held on the 3rd Monday of the month starting at approx 8.00 pm, but may occasionally be on a different day.  Please see the Linux SIG Home Page for up to date details.

The SIG originally started in response to the interest expressed by local MelbPC members in the Ivanhoe/Watsonia area who wanted to become more proficient with Linux and the applications that come with it. Since 2020, when the SIG moved to online meetings, members and guests from all over Melbourne are able to join in.

Our meetings usually have a presentation on a topic of interest - usually related to desktop/laptop linux distributions and their features but occasionally other free/open source topics, followed by a Q & A session and some general discussion.  We welcome questions from computer users who are considering trying out Linux on their machines, especially if they are interested in continuing to use existing computers which are no longer suitable for mainstream commercial operating systems and software.
