From The Editor October 2021

Hello and welcome to the October 2021 edition of PC Update.

Exciting news – our Moorabbin headquarters can reopen soon!

By about October 30 2021, Victoria will have reached the milestone of having 80 percent of the population aged over 16 years double vaccinated against Covid-19. Under the Victorian Government roadmap, this means that Melbourne PC User Group’s Moorabbin headquarters can reopen.

There are certain restrictions on this reopening (subject to Government requirements placed upon us as a community centre):

  • You must be double vaccinated against Covid-19 to enter the premises (if you are aged 16 or older)
  • A density limit of one person per every four square metres applies
  • A maximum of 150 people can be on premises
  • You must continue to wear a mask at all times
  • You must check-in using the Service Victoria QR code at the entry

So it’s good news that we can return to some normality as a club, as long as we adhere to the rules and regulations above.

Other than that we have a hopefully interesting issue for you this month. There are feature articles on rejuvenating an older PC, the latest Wi-Fi standards explained, celebrating the 20th anniversary of the iPod as well as our regulars such as Presidential musings, the East SIG report, DOTW Winners and Yammer Highlights.

Enjoy the issue!
